RENEWAL 2 - OPEN CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS

Gallery150, run and showcased by Leamington Studio Artists (LSA)  is a voluntary, non-profit arts organisation, based in Leamington-Spa, Warwickshire.

With a following of over 500 members across the UK and Europe, LSA has been publishing the Artspace journal since 1988 and represents the Visual Arts in Leamington's Cultural Quarter.

In January 2010, LSA launched the Gallery150 exhibition space formerly at the Old Library. Gallery150 has now relocated to the heart of the shopping area at Regent Court Shopping Centre, 9 Livery Street, Leamington Spa, CV32 4NP.

After the success of Renewal exhibition last January, which showcased the work of some of the 40 volunteers, who helped make Gallery150 happen, the gallery will be presenting Renewal 2, to celebrate the opening of a new Gallery150 space in Regent Court Shopping Centre.

During the exhibition the audience will be asked to vote for their favourite work of art. All of the voting slips will be entered into a prize draw and a lucky visitor will receive a Panoramic Digital Giclee print on watercolour paper, kindly donated by the LSA Chair Gerry Smith, called ‘Monet’s Garden at Giverny 9’,.

The Renewal 2 exhibition will be held from 14^th February 2011 – 27^th February 2011. The private view will be held on 14^th February 2011 from 7pm.

Witha a footfall of over 900 people a week, this is an exciting opportunity to promote your practice, get your work seen by a broad audience and become involved with a pro-active arts organisation.

The call is open to LSA members and non-members alike and artists can submit a maximum of two works.

The submission fee includes:

A two-week exhibition at Gallery150.

Promotion of the exhibition in newspapers, magazines and online services.

An exhibition feature in Artspace journal;

Private view;

A showcase to sell your work.

Non-members submission fee: £10 for one art work/£20 for two art works

Online Submission Deadline: 10th February or when space is full.

Art work delivery: at Gallery150 Saturday 12th February 4pm-7pm and Sunday 13th February 5pm-7pm

Take down & collection of art works: Sunday 27th February 4pm-6pm

Suminder Virk & Steven King on Show at Gallery 150

Gallery150, run and showcased by Leamington Studio Artists (LSA), a non-profit organisation, will be inaugurating a new show featuring the works of Leamington artists, Suminder Virk and Steven King.

Steven King, who has exhibited both nationally and on the continent, will be presenting a series of dynamic pencil drawings. The artist’s work sweeps from classical tradition to comical invention, obsessively jumping from one idea to the next, in an endless two-and-fro of evaluations and re-evaluations and a constant search for new ways to communicate ideas.

Suminder Virk, who has exhibited on an international scale, will be showcasing ‘Downward Spiral’, an impressive and fascinating installation piece. Influenced by domestic life and her fascination for fabrics and textile that stems from her Indian background, the artist painstakingly wraps ‘mundane’, objects, such as mattress springs, mirrors and dowels, in silk threads, creating a colourful, striking and dream-like effect.

The private view will be held at Gallery150, Regent Court Shopping Centre, 9 Livery Street, Leamington Spa CV32 4NP, on 31 January, 2011 from 7.00pm.

The exhibition, which will be running from 1^st February - 13^th February, 2011, is open Tuesday to Saturday, from 11am to 6pm, and Sunday from 11am to 4pm.
