brink will be holding its first temporary art exhibition at Kenilworth Castle on Boxing Day morning.
On occasion of the annual Boxing Day entertainments, organised by Kenilworth Town Council in collaboration with English Heritage, BRINK will be showcasing the sculptural works and installations of three local artists.
Richard Cresswell, who will be presenting a sculptural piece, favours materials such as wood, water, ice and metal. The artists takes natural materials, forces and phenomena, poetically creating stunning forms that allude to a symbiosis between man and nature, questioning our relationship with the natural world, tradition and progress.
Kenilworth artist, Tim Robottom, will be creating a site-specific installation. The artist’s work not only questions the temporality of all things, but also environmental issues, the ‘use and throw-away’ attitude of consumerism and the value we actually give to the objects we possess. As the morning’s events unfold, visitors will have an opportunity to see the artist at work, while he creates a well-known pictorial image using recycled objects.
Leamington-based artist, Suminder Sahota, will be exhibiting an installation of everyday objects that she has transformed into art objects. Influenced by domestic life and her fascination for fabrics and textile that stems from her Indian background, the artist painstakingly wraps ‘mundane’ objects, such as mattress springs, mirrors and dowels, in silk threads, creating a colourful, striking and dream-like effect.
The exhibition can be viewed at Kenilworth Castle from 10.00am-12.00pm on the 26th of December 2010.
Free entry to residents.
